Hi Tim,
great, you saved my day. At least you saved Kubuntu on my desktop. After
renaming .kde3 and logging in again into KDE3 kgpg (kde3), kmail (kde4) etc.
reappeared in the KDE panel. Eventually I found out that kicker.rc was the
culprit. I deleted it and configured the panel anew. Thus I didn't loose all
the KDE-configuration.
