I considered this ... "upgrade strategy", but reinstalling is so Microsoft.
Plus, there's a good deal of manual changesx in /etc like sane, fuse 
permissions, nfs setups etc etc.

I know that upgrading an entire distro is a tough job, but if htey offer an 
upgrade tool I expect it to at least give me a bootable system.

Well, like I said, I'll make up my mind on this - later.
