If you used the official disk, you will need to add the KDE3 repository to your system. To do that, you can download and install this package: http://ppa.launchpad.net/kde3-maintainers/ppa/ubuntu/pool/main/k/kde3-maintainers-keyring/kde3-maintainers-keyring_2009.04.24.1_all.deb Then do a sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop-kde3 Hope this helps!
