It might not be in the same direction, but it does seem to address the issue.

Keep hating it! Just let us know why, so that we can improve!
Actually, I think that KDE 4.3 should finally be "not hatable" for
most KDE 3 users, but I really, really need to hear from those who
continue to hate it for sound reasons.
