Thanks for your help!

Finally, I found the reason for this problem and it had nothing to do with KDE3: The problem was just caused by the my /etc/zsh/zshenv which
reset the PATH variable.

I've removed these lines and everything works now. :)

BTW: I'm not using the original zsh configuration files. Thus the zsh packages of ubuntu might be fine.
